Arch 571: Digital Fabrication
Master of Architecture Program
University of Michigan
A project for the exhibition, "Assembly and Aggregation" as a final presentation from the class, "Parametric Modeling and Digital Fabrication". Exercised parametric modeling using Rhino plug-in "Grasshopper" program, teamed up with M Hopkins and S McDaniel, DJS created the concept for A+A, designed the form by parametric variation, generated shop drawing for 3-D printing, fabricated plaster mold and silicon objects, and finally installed materials for the exhibition by teamwork. You can control the aperture ratio in parametric model to give gradual variance in openness of the fabric. Presented potential applications for interior furniture and for dynamic building envelope, in this case, for the Macy's in 5th Ave, NYC.
