Master of Urban Design Program

University of Michigan

In designing the new global city for 74 square kilometers with 3 million people, we strategically planned a infrastructure including an airport, a canal, high-speed rails, subways and transfer stations in the master plan layout.  Three key development boosters are CBD, Lakeside District and Seaside District that represents global corporate-education-cultural center and mixed-use live-work neighborhoods.  The concepts envision the city as the Global City, High-Functional City, Equitable City, Safe-Healthy City, City of Learning, Event City, Creative Class City, Sustainable City, Beautiful City, and Destination City. ( Ref. "New Istanbul - Goals and Objectives", published by University of Michigan Master of Urban Design Program in 2007) I (individually or in partner with a small group) worked on the form+density study, conceptualizing the master plan, developing the design guideline, high and low-rise buildings form design, and the production of the animation for the final presentation in December 2007.
